Low calorific gas (L-gas) forms an important and distinct part of the natural gas market in NWE. Since the 60’s the bulk of L-gas is produced from the giant Groningen field in the Netherlands. This field is in decline and in Germany the conversion of supply areas from L-gas to H-gas is planned for the next decade.
