Below you can see a map of weekly changes in gas flows across Europe in what is probably its most significant update for a long time, showing the impact of the stop in Russian gas supply via Ukraine on 1st January.
This also shows however how, as expected, the impact of this event has been so far mostly limited to Slovakia, Czechia and Austria. Roughly two thirds of Russian gas supply to these countries has been replaced by imports from Germany, with the remainder coming from higher withdrawals from storage.
Neighbouring markets like Germany, Italy and Poland have seen some increases in storage withdrawal rates, but the overall impact there has been fairly small.
